What is the role of high cortisol in the ability to lose weight?

Cortisol is classified as a “stress hormone”. It has important functions in the body especially during the day. In fact, cortisol awakens you in the morning. This hormone stimulates systems and processes you need to be healthy and get through your day. When cortisol levels are too high, you will actually impair fat metabolism because the body reads this stress and shifts away from fat as a fuel. If cortisol is too, low energy and the whole system is not stimulated to work. Sleep is also affected.

The body works better in balance. Create or allow an imbalance and not only will you be less able to control weight, but you are on your way to dysfunction or disease.
